Bachelor of Science in Sport Management

The $410.6 billion sport industry is constantly evolving, increasing the demand for qualified sport management professionals to fill leadership positions in professional and intercollegiate sports, marketing and public relations, sports law, facilities management, sports broadcasting, and not-for-profit sports management.

With a focus on business, media, law, marketing, and other relevant topics, the Bachelor of Science in Sport Management major draws on the strengths of many of Drexel University's academic programs to prepare students to excel as future leaders in the sport industry. The program provides a multidisciplinary approach to help students gain an understanding of management in the sport industry and to enhance their knowledge through the development of important supporting skills in technology and interpersonal communications.

Offered as a four or five year course of study with a co-op experience, the curriculum incorporates four main areas of emphasis:

  • Sport business
  • Sport marketing
  • Sport media
  • Sport law

Graduates of the B.S. program in Sport Management will be uniquely qualified for positions of leadership and management in a wide spectrum of organizations at all levels (recreational, youth, inter-scholastic, amateur, collegiate, professional) within several organizational settings (public, private, non-profit, corporations) and for varying purposes (competitive, fitness and wellness, recreation).

Undergraduate Spotlight:
Mai-Thy Vuong

Globe trotter Mai-Thy Vuong made the most of of Drexel’s study abroad program, spending the fall 2010 term studying in Ireland and bringing back with her to Philadelphia an insider’s perspective about various cultures. She now applies her insight to her various roles such as being the manager for the Drexel’s Division I Women’s Basketball team, a team leader at the Recreation Center, and a participant of the United States Olympic Committee Finding Leaders Among Minorities Everywhere (FLAME) Program.
