Drexel University provides customized learning solutions to a variety of academic, institutional, and corporate clients, drawing on its nationally-recognized academic programs as well as its expertise in adult learning. We work with companies and organizations to create training programs that range from webinars to online courses to face-to-face workshops. Advance learning technology is often used to deliver some or all of the training.
The following are examples of the work that CLS has completed with strategic partners.
Case Study #1: Pennoni ConstructionPennoni Construction was looking for a way to convey to their employees the importance of project communication, particularly as it pertained to changes in scope, schedule, or budget. They wanted a solution that could be delivered to more than 800 employees in a simple and effective manner.
Our solution for them was a one-hour learning module delivered through a highly effective, user-friendly faculty tool called Blackboard. The module consisted of a presentation prepared by one of Goodwin College's Construction Management faculty members, an interactive activity, and an assessment.
Case Study #2: Drexel University College of Medicine
Drexel University College of Medicine’s surgical residency program has a goal of increasing their residents’ ABSITE scores. Because some areas of the ABSITE feature specialized surgical questions that are not related to the actual surgical and clinical work of the residents, the faculty were looking for a way to increase the residents’ knowledge in those specialized areas.
The solution was a six-week program during which the six weakest areas of the ABSITE exam would be the focus. Each week consists of an online module with a pre-test, reading assignment, short presentation, and video. During weekly conferences, the residents then present cases specifically related to that week’s topic. The attending surgeons guide the discussion by asking questions that will help build knowledge needed for the ABSITES. At the end of the week, a post-test is given to evaluate the results.
Case Study #3: Engineering
A major electronics engineering firm is preparing a course called Engineering Practices and Procedures to be delivered to thousands of engineers worldwide. The delivery mechanism needed to be online due to the diverse locations of the engineers. This course was created with the firm’s subject matter experts and content and has 10 modules.
Each module consists of a presentation, interactive exercises and assessment, as well as additional resources such as video, white papers and links to the company’s websites.
