Message from the Dean
Welcome to the Goodwin College of Professional Studies.
As you review the programs outlined on our website, it is my sincere hope that our commitment and resolve to providing you the highest quality education in areas of study that are timely and pertinent is obvious. Now more than ever, an education from an outstanding university is a necessary credential that will lead to professional opportunity. And while many institutions of higher learning make claims to the rigor of their curricula or the expertise of their faculty, Drexel is one university that has proven over the years that a practical, hands-on approach to learning bears professional results for its students.
Over the past year, Goodwin College has introduced a number of successful programs. The Master of Science in Construction Management and the Master of Science in Project Management are two of these, both of which are offered entirely online.
Some additional new program offerings included an accelerated degree completion program, the B.S. in Property Management; the addition of Culinary Science to our Culinary Arts and Hospitality programs; and exciting graduate programs in Creativity and Innovation, Homeland Security Management and E-Learning Leadership. New certificate programs include Residential Property Management, Commercial Property Management, Gaming and Casino Management, and Creativity and Innovation.
In the area of noncredit adult education, Goodwin has introduced the concept of Leading-Edge Networks in a variety of professional fields to support individuals who wish to either advance in their current positions or change careers. These networks are a compilation of courses, workshops, and seminars in specific industry sectors such as Nonprofit Studies and Historic Preservation. Additional networks will be introduced throughout 2010 in other emerging fields.
What is particularly important to note in all of the educational options offered through Goodwin College is the relevance and timeliness of the areas of study. Our advisory boards and other affiliations with industry leaders provide us access to the pulse and trends that dictate the direction of a profession. That knowledge then informs the programs that are initiated and the curricula that is developed and constantly reviewed to ensure quality and relevancy.
Drexel University is for serious, motivated individuals who understand the value of professional education. For those students, Goodwin provides a supportive partnership, the goal of which is to have each student succeed in meeting their educational objectives.
